What is happening in our country right now is not ok. When our Olympic athletes have to apologize to the world for what our government is saying and doing, things are not ok.
It's hard to know what to do to try and "right the ship", except to be a light in this time of darkness; to hold onto the light and the truth and shine it as brightly as possible everywhere we go.
Martin Luther King Jr. said:"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that".
Each one of us, by ourselves, may not have much power, but together, united in Spirit, we can be transformative. At every turn, whenever we are in doubt as to what to do, we can ask ourselves, "what would Jesus do?"
A hymn comes to mind and I will leave you with this for the day:
We Are One In The Spirit
We Are One In The Lord (2)
And We Pray That All Unity
May One Day Be Restored
And They’ll Know We Are
Christians By Our Love, By Our Love;
Yes, They’ll Know We Are Christians
By Our Love!
We Will Walk With Each Other
We Will Walk Hand In Hand (2)
And Together We Will Spread The News,
That God Is In Our Land
And They’ll Know We Are
Christians By Our Love, By Our Love;
Yes, They’ll Know We Are Christians
By Our Love!

Excellent
ReplyDeleteReflective of the inspiring homily we heard yesterday. And a perfect breath prayer: Be the light. By the love.
ReplyDeleteI had forgotten that hymn until I read this blog. Thank you for reminding me.
